C.A.T. runs into more trouble

D.N.I.S. News Network, India: The cup of woes seems to be overflowing for I.I.M. Ahmedabad authorities as the first ever online C.A.T. exam has been a disaster from the word go. The exams which were scheduled over a period of 10 days from November 28 to December 7 had to be rescheduled as the server crashed at many test centres. This spelt inconvenience for many disabled aspirants as it meant giving the test again at inaccessible centres.

Twenty-year-old Avantika, a disabled examinee, had to go through the nightmare of a re-scheduled exam in a different city. Avantika was supposed to sit for the exam on December 2 at Okhla, Delhi. But the test was cancelled due to technical problems and her exam was re-scheduled on December 4 at Ghaziabad! She had to go through the agony of visiting an unfamiliar location, far off from her place. “When Prometric sent me the message that my test will be held at Hi-Tech Institute, they did not even mention the location (city). We had to figure it out ourselves. Moreover, I was scared to visit an unfamiliar place and had to take help of my family and friends for the same,” she said.

N.C.P.E.D.P. had earlier taken up the issue of C.A.T. website not being W.C.A.G. 2.0 compliant with I.I.M. Ahmedabad authorities. The Ministry of Human Resource Development also wrote to Samir Barua, Director, I.I.M. Ahmedabad asking for an explanation.
