D.N.I.S. News Network - The Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (I.S.I.C.), Delhi, has taken a major initiative by deciding to introduce Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics (M.P.O.) course. The aim of this programme is to impart knowledge and skills on technical advancements and promote research in the field of rehabilitation that deals with use of advanced aids.

This is a full-fledged two-year course that will be launched in September 2006 by I.S.I.C. in affiliation with Indraprastha University. The course design is such that it would produce professionals who specialise in developing advanced aids and assistive devices. Prosthetics and Orthotics is a specialised healthcare profession, which combines a unique blend of clinical and technical skills.

There are a total of 16 seats and the teaching faculty will comprise highly qualified and experienced national and international professionals in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics.

As part of the new course, a student exchange programme is also being planned with San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy, to expose students to technological developments outside the country.
