Law students learn about disability

DNIS News Network - Last year in June 2003, National University of Jurisprudence, Kolkata had started a course on disability law. The course has been revised and improved now.

The course contains four modules: Sociology of Disability Studies, Disability Jurisprudence, Human Rights Approach to Disability and Social Oppression & Disability.

The course is offered as an optional paper to fourth and fifth semester law. So far, four students have been enrolled on the course. However, Professor Rukmini Sen of the faculty of Sociology and Disability Law said there were as yet no plans to make the course compulsory.
