Disabled people from poorest section demonstrate in front of Supreme Court

D.N.I.S. News Network – In a desperate act of defiance, disabled people from the poorest section of the society, who are forced to beg on streets to survive, staged a sit-in protest in front of the Supreme Court on 26 October to draw attention of the nation's policy makers towards their demands for a decent life.

The protest was organised by an Non Governmental Organisation called Rural Education and Welfare Society. These people were given tricycles to reach to the Court premises. Though not a very big crowd, the protectors took the security by surprise and were arrested by police deployed on the Court.

The General Secretary of the N.G.O., Nanu Singh, told reporters that the protectors were demanding basic facilities like education, health and housing and have presented a memorandum to the Chief Justice. The arrested protectors were later released.
