McGill University hosts conference on ‘Disability and Work: Global Strategies for Equity’

D.N.I.S. News Network, India: The Institute for Health and Social Policy of McGill University hosted a conference on ‘Disability and Work: Global Strategies for Equity’ on May 4 and 5 in Montreal, Canada. The objective of the conference was to discuss and examine viable solutions to reduce inequities that people with disabilities in both high and low-income countries face in accessing meaningful and competitive employment.

The conference brought together experts from various fields that included institutions like Harvard, Government agencies, bilateral agencies, development aid agencies and civil society.

Javed Abidi, Chairperson of Disabled People’s International (D.P.I.) and Honorary Director, National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (N.C.P.E.D.P.) gave a keynote address on ‘Legislations, policies and programmes that have helped promote equitable and meaningful employment for people with disabilities in India.’
