Karnataka H.C. orders State to follow M.C.I. guidelines for post graduate courses

D.N.I.S. News Network, India: The Karnataka High Court on May 2 directed the State Government to announce the seat matrix for the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test within three days and to provide three percent reservation for doctors with disabilities during counselling for allotment of seats as per the guidelines set by Medical Council of India (M.C.I.).

Justice Bhaktavatsala of the Karnataka High Court was responding to a petition by two doctors with disabilities of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The petition said that the Government had come up with a separate seat matrix, reserving post-graduate seats for doctors with locomotor disability in the range of 50 to 70 percent in least preferred courses.

The petitioners sought Court intervention to provide three percent horizontal reservation to doctors with disabilities in pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical courses.
