Javed Abidi takes over as Vice-Chair of International Disability Alliance
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: Javed Abidi, Chairperson, Disabled People’s International (D.P.I.) took over as the Vice-Chair of International Disability Alliance (I.D.A.) on July 1. This is a two year term. Yannis Vardakastanis, Chairperson of European Disability Forum (E.D.F.) will be the new I.D.A. Chair.I.D.A. is a network of global and regional disabled people’s organisations. Its aim is to promote effective and full implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (C.R.P.D.) worldwide, as well as compliance with C.R.P.D. within the U.N. system.
